This week has been a focus of putting together the footage from the event our organization held the week before. We had a free speech march that took place in Forth Worth on October 8th that I captured footage for. I went over some of this in the previous journal post.
The footage was pieced together for the march and set to the song of For What It’s Worth by Buffalo Springfield. We’re not worried about the usage of the music as the licensing terms for places like YouTube are that we cannot monetize the video and YouTube takes care of any collection of fees by the artists or the rights holders. We had no plan to monetize the video now or in the future, and we don’t even meet the criteria to monetize our channel right now, and likely never will.
I’ve learned that YouTube has been updating the requirements to monetize a channel and it’s becoming tougher and tougher for smaller channels to do so. It would be nice if we could obtain that status, but creating the content needed within our niche to make that happen, likely isn’t going to happen.
Another week with a podcast to edit as well, and the platform for recording seems to be a bit more stable now. As well, another event that I had to attend and grab photos for rather than video. It was a 5 hour event located in San Marcos at the end of the week. This next week I have two podcasts to record but they both won’t be going up immediately. We want to have one on reserve in case we have a drop out like we did this week with a guest.
